Hi everyone! It's been far too long since our last blog post! I am going to be real and just lay it out there....So much has happened since last fall. So many changes, so many valleys to navigate, so many dark hours and hardships but I am thankful to finally be able to say with confidence that I made it out of that rough place and have emerged victorious on the other side and I feel better than ever - stronger, empowered, and BRAVE!!! I know this will warrant another blog post, and hopefully you can look for that in the near future, but for now I just want to shout from the rooftop how excited I am to launch our 3rd collaboration with Lis Dunn Designs! Please take a moment to pop over to Lis' blog post {http://lisdunndesigns.blogspot.com/2015/10/brave.html} about our collab on our {Brave} candle, how it came to be, and how we hope to inspire other women. Are you going through a tough time or know someone who is? Don't give up - there is hope, and we need to be BRAVE to get through it! Much love to you!! XOXO - Stephanie <3
I've been slacking on the blog (not for lack of ideas or content!), but we have an idea to help the Monarch Butterfly Population and would love your participation!
I'm sure if you've spent any amount of time speaking with Stephanie, you know she is a nature enthusiast of all sorts and is active in land and species preservation. For the past 8 or so years she has raised and tagged monarchs and has worked to restore a section of our property with native plants including milkweed that is vital for the life cycle of the monarch butterfly. We have even been certified as a 'Waystation' by Monarch Watch. (See how here: http://monarchwatch.org/waystations/ )
Due to the loss of milkweed habitat (the ONLY plant monarchs lay their eggs on, and a popular nectaring/food plant), monarch populations have significantly declined and are at their all time lowest number.
"....Farmers in the corn-belt region of the United States are using vast quantities of herbicides, in an effort to wipe out milkweed. Numbers of the plant have declined 21 percent between 1995 and 2013." Article Source: http://www.techtimes.com/articles/8068/20140606/monarch-butterfly-population-dying-due-to-loss-of-milkweed-habitat.htm
SO, how does this apply to One Love Candle & Bath and YOU? For every online order received now (June) until October 1st, we will plant & designate a milkweed plug for YOU (or someone you love) in our Monarch Waystation Habitat with YOUR name and send you updates when your plant is being used for egg laying, pupating, and food for caterpillars and adult butterflies. You will have helped in conservation for these amazing creatures and also have the joy and beauty of witnessing their life cycle from the comfort of your laptop or phone! If you've been thinking about placing an order, now's the time! Just mention that you would like to be signed up in the 'notes' section at checkout!
Much Love <3
Happy 2014 everyone!!
Yay - we finally have a blog! I have wanted to start a blog since the inception of One Love, but never found the time. Now that we finally established one, we will be making the time to update as regularly as possible. I find that writing is a good release and tension tamer, and what better way to share valuable information with our customers! It's a win-win! Plus, you will have a chance to learn more about us and our products.
Typically I am not one for New Years resolutions. After finally having a few moments to breathe after Christmas { insert looong *sigh* } and reflecting upon the hectic year we had in 2013 (thank you!), I have outlined some important things that need tweaking and have established some lofty yet attainable goals. First and foremost, I'd like to thank every single one of our customers for their loyalty and confidence in our products... without you we wouldn't be where we are today! Primarily, we will be refining our business model for efficiency and, let's get real - my sanity! ;) We are so blessed to have expanded so rapidly! This means many new and exciting features and surprises for our customers in the coming months! We can't wait to share what we have coming up with you all! Stay tuned, this is going to be THE BEST year yet!!
Many Blessings Always,
Stephanie
